Putting Random Dubs Rules
- 5-Round Swiss Pairing. You will play at least 5 rounds
- Top teams advance to single-elimination semifinals
- Rules are subject to change at PKs discretion as we iterate on this format.
- Matches are 2v2
- Teammates are assigned randomly
- Preliminary matches play to 21 points
- Semifinals & Finals play to 31 points
- No win-by-2 required
- Matches are won only at the end of a completed frame
- After every match, winner will report results to the administrator (W/L and score)
- To help streamline the event, I encourage everybody to set up a free Challonge account (use the same email as when you signup for league)
- One player on each team will get an invite via email to report scores from their phone
- Please help out by reporting scores PROMPTLY, this will help keep matches moving and get all matches completed earlier
- Make = 2 points
- Tap (cage and up) = 1 point
- Make both putts = 5 points total
- Disc resting on basket (cage and up) counts as a MAKE
- Points do NOT cancel — both teams score independently
- Teammates stand directly across from each other
- At each basket, one player from each team stands next to each other
- Each player has:
- One opponent next to them
- One opponent kitty-corner
- Their teammate directly across
- Only one pair of players putts at a time (opponents)
- A frame consists of one player from each team standing at the same basket
- Those two players alternate throws, each throwing two putts
- If there is a disc hanging in the chains, you may ask for a clear
- After the frame is scored:
- The players at the opposite basket play the next frame
- After all four players have putted:
- Retrieve discs
- Switch sides
- First frame: disc flip
- Winner chooses to putt first or second
- Semifinals & Finals: first throw is awarded to the higher seed
- After each frame:
- The player on the team that scored more points on the last frame putts first
- If no team scored on the last frame, the previous lead-off team putts first again
- If there are an odd number of participants, one player will be "Lone Wolf"
- The Lone Wolf plays both sides — they are their own teammate
- If your partner is DNF, you will play as Lone Wolf
- If both teams are tied and have reached the winning score at the end of a frame:
- Sudden death begins
- Sudden death follows normal frame rules
- Normal turn order during sudden death. The team that scored most recently putts first
- Play continues until one team wins a frame
- If teams are tied (same score) for a semi-finals seed after 5 rounds, tiebreaker will be down and back
- For down and back, line up with your teammate on the same basket
- Alternate putts with your teammate until you have both taken 2 putts
- Switch sides and repeat
- Report your final score (points after you and your teammate have both putted 2 discs from each side)
- Down and back is only to break ties for semi-finals. Results do not affect seeds or final rankings
- Tiebreaker sequence for final rank is separate from down and back tiebreaker for semi-finals.
- Final rank is determined for points awarding and "Top Flyer" game
- Final rank tiebreaker sequence:
- Finals results (T3 is broken by swiss results). The 2 eliminated teams in semi finals do not play off.
- Match wins across all 5 matches
- TB (Wins vs tied participants)
- Buchholz
